WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez defeated Britain's brave and bloodied Chris Billam-Smith on points to become the unified WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion. He dominated the majority of the fight and landed a high volume of hard blows, but Billam-Smith fought on, staying on his feet. At the end, all judges scored the fight in Ramirez's favor. 116-112, 116-112 and 116-113.

Jai Opetaia successfully defended his IBF Cruiserweight World title against David Nyika. The fight took place at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Australia. Challenger Nyika went down in the 4th round from a brutal uppercut. Moments later, Opetaia scored a vicious knockout. Nyika was down for several, scary minutes as medical staff attended him.
